At 500 PM EDT the center of Ernesto was located at latitude 27.6 north, longitude 80.8 west or 55 miles south southwest of Cape Canaveral, Florida. The storm is moving to the north at 14 mph. Winds are 35 mph. Central pressure is 1001 mb.

The system continues to move north along with intermittent convection. Satellite images show that the cloud pattern is still well organized. The system could re-strengthen as it moves into the open waters tonight. The system is expected to move into the Atlantic tonight and near the South Carolina coast during Thursday.
