Residents on this hurricane-battered peninsula watched with shock Thursday afternoon, as a confirmed tornado began tearing through trees and threatening to peel back roofs. Damage was mostly superficial across dozens of homes and paled in comparison to the destruction from hurricanes Frances, Jeanne and Wilma. But for residents emerging onto rain soaked streets to collect their trash cans and solar pool heaters from the neighbors' yard, the scene was all to familiar. No injuries were reported on the point, sandwiched between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Manatee Pocket.
